An Industrial Chemical Spill Cleanup in Auckland

The Challenge

In early 2023, we were called to the site of a manufacturing facility on the outskirts of Auckland. A forklift accident resulted in the rupture of a container holding industrial solvents, leading to the rapid spread of hazardous materials throughout their warehouse. The damage resulting from the spill was twofold: first, it meant workers could no longer operate due to potential health risks and secondly, the warehouse was situated near a river. Biohazard Cleanup in a Wellington Residential Building

The Challenge

In early 2024, a case of unattended death was reported in a residential building in Wellington. The body had been undiscovered for over a week, leading to significant decomposition and contamination of the apartment. The incident posed a potential health risk to other residents in the building due to the presence of bodily fluids and the potential for airborne pathogens.

Our Solution

We established a containment zone to isolate the affected apartment and prevent cross-contamination to other parts of the building, ensuring the safety of neighbours.

We carefully removed all biohazardous materials, including bodily fluids and any contaminated items, from the apartment. This involved the removal of carpeting, furniture, and personal belongings that were too contaminated to salvage. Enzyme solutions were used to break down and eliminate biological matter. After the initial removal, we performed a deep clean of the entire apartment, including all surfaces, using high-grade disinfectants to ensure thorough sanitisation and deodorisation.

We worked closely with the property owner to restore the apartment to a habitable condition, including replacing damaged drywall and flooring. The owner was particularly impressed with our discretion and meticulous approach during a very distressing situation.
